Lotus launched its Solar PV, Thermal and Energy Efficient System with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday May 21, 2012 at 1:45 pm. Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan addressed the students and guests at the opening. The project has been funded by the Federal Government, Xcel Energy and City of Aurora. Key people in the projects have been recognized by the School Principal Dr Doyuran, Board Member Dennis Duffy and Mayor Hogan. Mayor Steve Hogan, State Representative Nancy Todd and Lotus Principal Dr. Doyuran cut the ribbon and turn the switches of inverters that converts DC to AC. In addition to installation of solar panels, Lotus changed its lights and boilers to energy efficient ones. All light switches have been changed to motion sensors in the building to eliminate power waste. Lotus is expected to save about 50% energy with this project and save about 30-40K in one year.
